National One Stars Featuring In Memorial Match

A host of National One Players will be in action tonight at Brickfields, home of National One side Plymouth Albion, for the annual memorial match between the Barbarians and the Combined Services.
The match is an annual event held in the lead up to remembrance Sunday and always features a large amount of National One players on either side of the field.

The host club, Plymouth Albion, will be represented in the Barbarians squad by Arthur Brenton, Kyle Marriot, Danny Thomas, Ryan Hopkins and Wihan Neethling. Albion's Westcountry rivals Cornish Pirates are represented by Rhys Jones and Rhodri McAtee, a try scorer in this fixture last season. Title challengers Exeter Chiefs provide two players in the shape of Brett Sturgess and Richard Bolt whilst other players from National One are Dougie Flockhart of Esher and Jamie Miller of Coventry. The Barbarians will also feature Welsh internationals John Yapp, Chris Czecak and Rhys Williams as well as three Portugese internationals, a Belgian international and Will Runciman, brother of London Welsh scrum-half Nick Runciman.

The Combined services XV also have some National One interest with Chris Budgen, Josh Drauninui and Marshall Cormack contracted to Exeter Chiefs whilst Mark Lee is currently playing for Newbury. Apolosi Satala of the Combined Services XV was on the verge of signing for Sedgley Park in the summer before his performances in the Army sevens squad caught the eye of Premiership side Gloucester where he now plays.

The Combined services won last seasons encounter in dramatic fashion with a last minute try from then Newbury flanker Isao DamuDamu.

Admission for tonight's game is from £5 for Ground entry (£3 for concessions) which allows entry to the covered terrace or £10 for a ticket in the main grandstand. Direction to Brickfields can be found on Plymouth Albion's official website at www.plymouthalbion.com.

If you have the time then be sure to take in the curtain raiser which will be played out between England Women’s Development XV and The Women’s Combined Services; this match will kick off at 5pm.
